our riders of the North,
to the coastline, white with winter,
where the cold Pacific swayed.

Red as maple leaves in autumn
flew our banner through the storm;
true to promise, strong together,
Northern hearts both brave and warm.

Years of labour, years of hardship—
still the echo will remain:
voices rising proud and steady
through the wind and through the rain.

Though it sounds like ancient legend,
still it cannot be denied:
towns and peoples standing together,
free and equal, side by side.

So we built this land together,
field and forest, lake and plain;
and our long road carried onward
to the western ocean’s main.
